These pumps are mainly made of vegetable tanned leather from Tuscany, Italy and the name is like an ode to the region.
The leather industry is generally quite polluting but Tuscany, where vegetable tanning is practiced, is still a wine and truffle region. The Arno river is clean. The rolling hills in southern Tuscany turn yellow in late summer, leading to the name for this pair of pumps: ‘Fields of Gold’. To further emphasize the importance of ecology, yellow leather with an Art-Deco floral motif is used.
Specifications
Custom made / bespoke pumps - 6cm heel - with 'collar'. The leather of the shoe is wet-formed an stretched to exactly the right shape and size. As a result the seam that pumps always have in the middle of the heel is missing. The only seam is modest on he inside of the foot, medially.
Sunlight will color the used vegetable tanned leather more deeply. This dignified aging is an enrichment, a desired patina as a sign of the times.
Through use, the leather conforms to the foot.
