Candle castle Karel V (2016)
A tribute to Romanticism
Anyone taking a good look at karel V beholds the suspended candle emerging from the ingenious junction in the design. An optical illusion in a perpendicular design. Once the candles burn that paradox diminishes. The flames, the elegant lines of the candles that debouch into the unyielding candleholder.
The candleholder Karel V is a tribute to Romanticism. Made on a Dutch farm where old-fashioned craftmanship guarantees a dead straight alignment resulting in industrial quality.
(Product photo's; Eleberth Pot, Amersfoort, the Netherlands.)
Solid wood; American Walnut (dark) or European Elm (light), carefully selected, planed and glued with invisible connectors. The wood is deliberately left untreated to allow for dignified aging. Signs of use like patina, wear and tear are desirable marks of the passage of time. The candles are placed in black metal cups. Dimensions without candles: 25cm x 25cm x 29cm.
Every candleholder is unique, handmade to order in an atelier on the Utrecht Ridge, a wooded and hilly area in the middle of the Netherlands. For an impression of the making of, click here.
